Wedding Day Timeline

Today we will be talking about the wedding day timeline. Many wedding photographers will ask the couples they are working with to write down a timeline of the day. For some, it may feel like extra or unnecessary work, but trust us, it will make things easier in the long run. We recommend sharing this timeline with your bridal party, vendors and the person who will be helping you, whether it be a coordinator or a family member. Below are a few things you can add to your timeline to help the day go smoothly:

  • Brides arrival at the venue
  • Grooms arrival at the venue
  • What time the hair and makeup artists will begin
  • What time the groom will start getting ready
  • What time the ceremony starts
  • What time cocktail hour starts
  • What time family and couple portraits begin
  • What time the reception begins

You can even go one step further and write out a list of the events happening at the reception and the order they will happen in. This can be useful to the photographer as well as any other vendors who are working the reception. This list could include things like:

  • When the meal begins
  • The cake cutting
  • Toasts and speeches
  • Bouquet and garter toss
  • 1st dances

Feel free to list any other events that would be beneficial to know about. We recommend sharing this second list with your reception vendors, including the photographer and the DJ/musician. Wedding days can be stressful and there are a lot of things to remember, places to be and people involved. The more people know and are on the same page, the smoother the day will go.
